As part of our dedication to providing superior care, Savannah Periodontics has invested in a CT scanner. With the high-resolution, 3D images our scanner is able to capture, we can more accurately plan a range of procedures, including implant placement or bone grafting. Our cone beam unit enables us to gather more detailed and specific information than traditional two-dimensional x-rays. The images we collect with this unit give us an unprecedented view of your tooth roots, internal canals, and bone structure. What’s more, a cone beam scan takes just a few second to complete, exposing you to far less radiation than other forms of radiography.
Oral & IV Sedation
One of the biggest obstacles for patients is anxiety. Every year, people just like you put off important procedures because the thought of undergoing treatment fills them with a very real sense of fear. If you’re facing this problem, let us talk to you about the benefits of sedation dentistry. With options like oral sedation or IV sedation, patients who may have resisted treatment can get the important help they need.
Oral sedation works using a safe and commonly prescribed medication to induce feelings of peace and relaxation. On the day of your visit, you’ll take your prescription before arriving for your procedure so that you’re fully relaxed by the time you’re seated in our chair. Make sure you have a friend or family member with you to drive you to and from your appointment and to stay with you until your prescription has worn off.
IV sedation is great for patients who would describe their level of anxiety of moderate to severe or for patients who will be undergoing a more invasive procedure. As with oral sedation, anyone undergoing care with IV sedation will need to have a friend or family member available to come to the appointment with them to provide transportation home after the procedure.
